The Face Of Seafood Boil 2025
Crafted with Local Pride
Behind the fresh, savory flavors of Firehouse Boil Delivery are two childhood friends, Dave Sawin and Jeff Krenk, who grew up together on the Outer Banks. Since the 1980s the founders, each with their own restaurant experiences working in family businesses and cooking seafood, have been serving up seafood cuisine to locals and visitors on the Outer Banks at spots such as the seafood staple Evans Crab House.
When choosing Firehouse Boil Delivery, customers can count on high-quality meals made with premium, locally sourced ingredients including the freshest seafood and produce available. Delivery options include one where everything that is needed for the boil (including both food and cookware) is delivered to the customer along with a quick demo on cooking methods, and another option where a private chef stays on-site and prepares the meals. No matter what delivery method is chosen, Firehouse Boil Delivery brings an elevated low country boil to their customers. “We have perfected our recipe over 40 years of cooking seafood for visitors, family and friends,” admits Sawin.
At the foundation of a boil is an assortment of shrimp, sausage, corn, potatoes and seasonings. As the next level, customers have the choice to add in other seafood including crab legs, lobster tail, clams, mussels and scallops. For non-seafood lovers, options include a vegan boil featuring vegan sausage with vegan butter and sea kelp seasonings and a “Kids & Land Lovers” boil, with chicken tenders and BBQ menu items.
Along with their extensive culinary expertise, at the core of the company is “family, family, family,” according to Sawin, who credits both his and Krenk’s fathers as their greatest inspiration for instilling the value of family and community. As a result, the partners support the local community however possible. “We get our shrimp ‘off the boat’ from a high school buddy and source local produce,” says Sawin. “And our ‘Boilslingers’ are members of the community and hone their craft to provide the best experience from flavor to presentation.”
In honor of Sawin’s father’s three-decades-long career as a firefighter, Firehouse Boil Delivery donates a portion of their proceeds to local fire departments. Their First Responders Giving Fund with the Outer Banks Community Foundation is one example of their community efforts, with the 2024-2025 campaign assisting the Colington Volunteer Fire Department raise funds for Jaws of Life® hydraulic rescue equipment.
“We find that visitors really want a local connection when they come here, and we can deliver that.”
